Lots of people ask, so for those inquiring minds that want to know – I’m a Canon girl all the way. I shoot a 5D with a 30D for backup. My favorite lens when I’m in the studio is my L 24-70 f2.8 . When I’m out and have more room to move around, I sometimes use my 501.4, but the 24-70 still owns the title as #1 choice.Â
As for light, I use both ambient and studio depending on my surroundings. Both my home and portable studio set up consists of a basic strobe and softbox combo with a either a second for fill or a reflector.Â
The number one equipment rule that you will hear from any photographer is that while having a quality camera can certainly enhance your photographs it is not the number one factor in a good image. What is you ask? Why the person clicking the shutter of course!! Just like top of the line tools wouldn’t make someone an instant carpenter and guarentee a perfect structure, a top of the line camera does not guarentee the perfect image. Â
Photography is a constantly evolving art and every time I shoot I learn more. It’s never ending but if you love photographs like I do - oh so worth it! Knowledge of the equipment, the manual shooting mode, and how exposure works with light are the things that will help you get a great image on any camera. Â
In a nut shell – the most important photography equipment that I use often? Practice & Time.
